Don't Miss the Signs of Hearing Loss

It’s so frustrating! Why don’t people just slow down and talk more clearly? What on earth are they saying?

If you ever feel this way during conversations, you’re not alone. The truth is, not understanding speech is a common sign of hearing loss – one of the world’s most common health problems. In fact, most people experience some degree of hearing loss in their lifetime.

Because hearing loss is usually a gradual process, it often goes unnoticed or ignored. You may attribute your difficulty in hearing to other factors. Or, maybe you don’t even notice your hearing loss, but others around you do.

If you’re not sure, the following questions can help:

  • Are the “sh”, “th” and “f” sounds more difficult to hear?

  • Do you often ask others to repeat themselves?

  • Do you turn up the TV or radio louder than others prefer?

  • Is it particularly difficult to understand conversation when there is background noise?

  • Does it seem as though others are mumbling when they speak to you?

  • Do you have difficulty following group conversations?

  • Do you find it difficult to identify from which direction sounds are coming?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may have hearing loss. But don’t worry, there is plenty of help. Today’s digital technology is providing advanced hearing aid options that offer great sound quality, reduce background noise and can be customized to meet your specific needs.

At Physicians Hearing Center our otolaryngologists and audiologists can help you determine if you have a hearing loss and provide the options you have for treating it. For more information about the signs of hearing loss, call us at 662-327-4432 today for an appointment.

Introducing Physicians Hearing Center!

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to Physicians Hearing Center at Otolaryngology Associates.  Since the 1980s, we have led the effort to improve hearing in the Golden Triangle. We continue to be at the forefront of hearing diagnostics and hearing aid technology.  Many people have commented over the years that they weren't aware that we provided these services.  In response to this we decided to create Physicians Hearing Center to increase awareness among our patients and the communities we serve.

Roughly 35 million Americans have hearing loss, and we feel strongly that those patients deserve the best care possible with comprehensive ear and hearing exams.  Although hearing aids can often help and we are a full service provider for most major hearing aid brands, some types of hearing loss and ear symptoms can indicate that there may be a more serious health problem.  In many of these cases hearing aids are not appropriate or there may be other treatment options.  For this reason federal regulation prohibits any hearing aid sale unless the buyer has first received a physician'’s evaluation, or if you are over 18 years old and have been made aware of the recommendation for a medical exam, you may sign a waiver to forego it.  Our promise to you is that we will provide a comprehensive, objective, and unbiased evaluation and recommendation.  We sincerely believe that your hearing health matters.  Visit us at Physicians Hearing Center.  We can help your hearing!
